As the London Project Data and Analytics Meetup continues to grow I wanted to take the opportunity to share a few data articles and links. I hope that you find them useful. Please sign up if you get the opportunity. It would be great to meet you.
- Linkurious and Gephi are great tools for visualising graph databases. Linkurious is a powerful tool and is use across a number of use cases ranging from Panama Papers through to fraud. Gephi is open source and is certainly worth a look, but it depends what you are trying to achieve.
- D3 is a great tool for visualisations. This website provides a useful gallery overview of a wide range of D3 visualisations.
- Makeover Monday is a brilliant website where the community reworks charts that have been recently published. It provides some wonderful inspiration for those who are trying to develop unique insights into how data can be presented.
Graph databases have the potential to be transformational. We are really impressed with Neo4J and are now qualified as a Neo4J partner, which provides us with access to a wide range of technical support. There are a wide range of communities and some incredibly useful content. Its a great company to work with; they are very helpful and dynamic. They have regular webinars that help to pull the community together.
Business Intelligence Tools
There are a number of visualisation tools ranging from Power BI through to Tableau and Qlik. We use PowerBI extensively because of its ease of use and integration with Office 365. The rate of development is impressive with monthly updates providing some very impressive updates in capability.
Guy in a cube has delivered a number of youtube videos on Power BI that provide a wealth of insights. Mark Wilcock’s London Business Analytics Group is a great community of around 6,000 people. The majority of the presentations have been recorded and are available to watch via skills matter. The London Power BI Users Group is also a great forum that attracts some internationally renowned speakers.
Over the coming weeks we will be providing insights into web scraping, python and graph databases.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can help in any way. It would be a pleasure to see you at our Meetup.
